Homemade Samoa Girl Scout Cookies
Ingredients
- For the cookies:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the coconut topping:
- 3 cups shredded sweetened coconut
- 15 ounces store-bought
- 3 Tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces dark chocolate (See Kelly’s Notes)

15 oz of store- bought what????
I think the 15 oz of store bought would be caramel. I have never made these but I may try, and from looking at the pictures and the list of ingredients the only thing not noted is the caramel. So let me know if I am wrong so I can try and make them too.
I think it means “15 oz of store bought” is the same as 3 Cups of coconut. Not positive.
I just found another recipe by Kelly that gives the right amount of the “15 ounces of store bought” and it is caramel. Here is the recipe:
